Afaik Kois are herbivores.

 

Correct me if i'm wrong, but aren't Koi coldwater fish??? Neon tetra's are tropical fish and shouldn't be housed below 74F

 

I live in a tropical country. And yes my Kois are now in a tropical environment and they are doing fine

 

Koi are omnivorous. They may eat your guppies, but the guppies just reproduce so fast you don't notice that the koi eat some of them. The tetras, on the other hand, would not reproduce very easily (the koi would definitely eat their eggs) so their numbers would probably dwindle over time.

What temperature is the water? Both koi (especially your acclimatized tropical koi) and guppies will do well at temperatures around 74*F, but neons would suffer at this temperature. They need 78-80 to thrive.

 

Hmmm it seems I've been mislead into thinking Kois are herbivores all these years. I will abandon the idea of keeping neon tetras with kois. Thanks for pointing out.

 

There aren't many pure herbivores when it comes to fish. There are some who prefer plants but most will happily eat a fish much smaller than it.

With how many guppies you have and how quickly the reproduce your koi have likely been snacking on them and you've just never noticed it.

 

The primary component of (almost) all fish food is ground up fish meal.

 

fish are like this...whatever fits in your mouth..you eat.
