i used to have platys when i was younger, they reproduced just fine and didn't have that problem at all. i am sorry about the death of your poor platy i hope that your other two have a better birthing then this poor platy did.

 

I hope so too because I grow attached to them. :-(

 

It does happen on occasion yes. I think more common with smaller platy.
