Hi everyone... The people at my LFS aren't very helpful! i have set up a 29gal salt tank and it has about two inches of live sand and for now about 15lbs of live rock and has been cycling for about a week... what should my normal levels be for the amonia/nitrites/nitrates? Thanks for everyone's help!!!!!

To indicate a completed cycle your ammonia and nitrite should be 0 and nitrate should be below 40 to be healthy. A saltwater tank will usually take about 6 - 8 wks to completely cycle, before its safe to add fish/animals.

Don't forget to check your calcium levels! This is very important to do before adding animals, and is the one most forgotten by new saltwater hobbyists. Calcium should read between 400 - 500 to be safe for the animals.

If you need more help, just ask!
