My lionhead goldfish lost scales suddenly !!

Hi everyone my goldie is having SOMTHING weird going on right now . I can post pictures later . But as I was doing a water change ( I was almost done ) , and he jet away from the siphon so fast randomly . I went to look at him and scales where dangling off On his upper back . I found two of the scales but I would say he lost no more than 6 or 7 .

I don't know if maybe he bumped into the siphon or he has had this for a while . I have no idea and I'm really worried . His back has a little flesh tone spot on the top now. He eats a mix of pellets , algae wafers , peas , and bloodworms .

I just fed him bloodworms now . His water is usually between 68-72 . He seems like his normal self right now though . Do scales grow back ?

Im not a cat person or a dog person or a frog person or a hog person , Im a fish tank person

Assuming that it is an injury from the siphon,he should be fine with clean water. You could add a little salt to the water. This will increase his slime production. You could also use some melafix. It treats open sores and bacterial infections.Keep an eye on him for now.

The scales will grow back. They may be smaller or a slightly different color. One of my orandas lost a few scales. They grew back. It did take them a year or so to catch up in size to the others. Now it is very hard to tell he ever had an injury.
