freshwater shrimp missing

I haven't been able to find a sub-forum here for shrimp so I'll ask all.

I have a dedicated shrimp tank. Four days ago, I had lots of shrimp. Some red, some yellow, some blue, some adults and some were babies. I also have one large Mystery snail and lots of Java Moss and whatever (can remember) those dried leaves that they like to eat. I usually give them a couple sinking pellets every day. On Saturday, I didn't see any shrimp. This isn't unusual because they would sometimes be hidden in the moss or under the leaves in the morning. On Sunday, I still didn't see any shrimp and was starting to get worried. I moved things around but no shrimp. This morning I desperately searched and found none. Could they all have died and been eaten by the snail in two days?

Now here is the really strange part. I emailed my grandson who also has a shrimp dedicated tank. He said the same thing just happened to him. He had a lot of shrimp and they all disappeared.

I just thought of something. A couple weeks ago, we bought a bunch of blue shrimp and split them into his tank and mine. Could they have been carrying some disease?

What kind of filter do you have? Were any new shrimp introduced?

It's a little Tetra in-tank filter. It's only a 2.5 gallon tank.

As I mentioned, a couple weeks ago my grandson and I split a shipment of 20 blue shrimp. Could a disease incubate for two weeks?
