Are you and Jess really whining about reaching the bottom of your tanks ???!? .. Ehhemmm .. I have to resort to tossing kids in the tank ATM .. And even then a step ladder for me to lift them in.

Hahaha, no...I am complaining about reaching the bottom of the tanks of my 55 gal in the BACK corners without knocking down my nets. lol I'm only five feet tall, give or take an inch. >>; And I can do it with much gentle maneuvering. Haha, but it's so hard, I need a step ladder...why the heck did I not think of that before?! I mean, I really should have, the top of the tank is almost as high as I am tall. About eye level.

Berried is the (ADORABLE!) word for when a female shrimp is carrying fertilized eggs! It's the sweetest thing, Austin - and it really is the perfect word to use for it - looks just like they're carrying around a bitty off-color raspberries! *GRINS*

Hopefully I'll be able to get a snap to show you what I mean - got distracted from my tanks (and my camera) last night by a sick kiddo and a migraine, but am hoping to give it a try when I get home from work tonight!
*fingers crossed for a clear snap*

I'm sure a google search would turn up a far better image than I'll ever be able to get, anyway! :p
SOOOOOO CUTE! ^____^

@ Sylver - you must have a high tank stand! I thought mine was tall, but my 55 comes almost exactly up to my chin - I'm the same height. I have to stand on chairs to do waterchanges :p

In other news. . .I've been trying for a couple of weeks now, and my toads absolutely flat-out REFUSE to recognize Phoenix worms as a food source :/
. . . do any of you have any tips or other (non-roach, non wormish) suggestions??!

Aannnnd one of the crypts in the toady terrarium has gotten so tall that it's officially touching the glass lid!
Snowing again yesterday, hoping the weather warms soon (and STAYS that way!) so we can get back to work on the tank stand - now it's looking like not only the toads, but also their plants, are ready for a larger tank!
WoOts for emersed growth!

One of my shrimp is berried too. I am confused on the thing though, it's shaped exactly like a ghost shrimp but has some darker areas on the body, and the eggs are brown/black. Amanos don't really look like ghosts. I am hoping it's just some odd mixed ghost and it will have babies, I put a lot of java moss and stuff in there for her, made the java moss into a java ball. :3

I hope you get some babies. So much fun. Mind that filter! It'll suck the poor things up if it's not properly wrapped up. Even if you have good hiding, I lost all my poor ghost shrimp to my sponge filter with a sponge wrapped around the bottom, save a few in the other tank with the tube wrapped around with mesh netting though. Real pain to clean, but it may save some kiddies for you.

I'm envious of your little shrimpies. I'm still trying to figure it all out, I seem to have bad luck with shrimp of any kind! Though I am not envious of your ability to care for them right because obviously I wouldn't wish shrimp-death on anyone, they're just too cool. I can't wait to see more photos!

Toads and worms...you could try earthworms, break snails if you can muster up the ability to kill the poor things, meal worms...Try some of those frozen or live glassworms and tubefix worms too if they're ok to go to toadies. Blackworms are always a plus for little worm-lovers.

I dunno what phoenix worms are, can you get a picture of those too? They sound interesting. lol
