thanks guys....i do like my silk plants. :-D
last night water appeared to be going a little cloudy....bacterial bloom ?
no ammonia showing, however there are nitrItes and nitRates,
perhaps i was hoping that with the noodles and gravel from the old tank
i would be ok...mini cycle ?
oh and it's not a visitherm heater it's an Aqua clear.

i do love tiger barbs..and i would like to add another couple.....then
the loaches...when the water sorts it's self out. :)

gosh, looking at those pictures, and then looking over to the tank,
the plants have grown well already.
i shall update pics at the weekend.
no more fish have been added,as levels are not right, and two barbs
are not fairing well, three normal tigers doing well...two of the three
albino struggling.bristlenose..minding his own business and doing his rasping :-D

HUZZAH! I HAVE FOUND IT!!!
(I knew there was a thread on this tank around this old forum somewhere!)
Looking good, girl! Off to a great start, and I can't WAIT to see where you go from here!
That surely is quite a BIG glass box! ^.^

Loaches are awesome. You won't regret them. Promise. . .

ello :-D thanks for popping in.
was going to post some pics last night, however there was a change of plan.
i will take some tonight though, because i'm going to attempt my first water
change on this tank...i guess it's not major huge,as my other 4ft was,
just again i have to stand on the ladder to do anything inside,i was hoping
it was lower,however...one shouldn't moan,when i never thought i would
be able to get another big tank :-D
i'm going to do a water test shortly, and hopefully the levels will be better.:-D

That, my dear, is what we here in journal land call TEASING! AND?!! It is strictly forbidden! (in spite of which, it seems to happen an awful lot?!!)

Good luck on the First Water Change! Very exciting!!!
I know the feeling of being too short to reach the bottom very well - better get the scuba gear on! ^_^

*fingers crossed* for your water test!

. . . keep us posted!

water change tomorrow.
i added some "cycle" to the water in the week, and i do think it made
a little difference to the water readings
as it stands today
Ammonia 0
nitrAte 20
nitrIte 0.8
i am pleased to say that the plants are throwing down roots,as you will see in the picture i hope..
the tiger barbs seem to be enjoying swimming amongst the plants..nice to see
natural ? behaviour...even coming to the front of the tank now when
i approach, because i think they realise i am the bringer of yummy stuff :)
ok..enough waffle..

hmmmm well i think it looks messy in there..hmmppffffff :-(
i put the fern in the little baskets and stuck them to the side to add
another dimension,i know they'll take a while to see if it does what
i wanted it to.
can't put my finger on how i want the plants to look...somethings nagging
me ? ? ? ?
oh and another thing...i guess perhaps it's the wood..there's a tinge to the water,it dosn't
look nice and bright...

more on the side of goofy....i'm not great with eely...that's why
i think i'm struggling with khulie loaches, apart from the dark stripy orange
ones.
i think i really would like some kribs,as i seem to be able to keep them
easier than rams....i can't keep rams for toffee...they always die :-(
so i don't buy them anymore.

Doesn't England have pretty hard water for the most part? Or that's what I seem to remember reading. That might be why rams don't work too well for you.

If you want goofy then go for the botine loaches. These will be ones like yoyos, angelicus, and whatnot. They also click when they are happy such as when they are eating!

yes we have hard water here in foggy(this morning) London
not sure about the rest of the country..i think Cornwall is softer...
Ph in my tanks have always been around 7.8....and my fish store
is not far from me,so i'm guessing the same water....but nope they die,
and i get thoroughly disheartened,as i think they are such pretty fish..hayho,
cichlids(mabuna) always thrive..to such an extent i get bamboozled with fry.

almost had a melt down last night, the shower leaked down the wall to the fuse
box.......yeah i know who in their right mind would put a fuse box
under the bathroom,(was there when we moved in)and the power cut out...i nearly cried...however
OH quickly restored the situation, and the happy hum returned to my filter,
stuff the freezer full of food lol i wasn't worried about that!

Botine loaches....i'll have a lookie round for them..thanks :-D
