It depends on how you maintain your tank. The more you maintain the tank, the faster the fry will grow and mature. They become sexually mature by about 3 months. I would separate them by gender as soon as you can distinguish their sexes. Failing than that will allow them to use the inbreeding method which will undermine the quality of your future guppies.:wink2:
I wouldn't allow the fry to mate with their siblings or parents. This is an inbreeding method which tends to weaken their quality thus they are more vulnerable to diseases than those that did not interbreed with their relatives(usually first degree).
Hello!I have been breeding guppies for abit now..and I do belive you should sex at 1 week old and the way you do this is by looking for a black spot in their bellys ..the ones with the spot is males...no spot means females...but if over that 1 week age its harder to tell ..till they are about 3 weeks of age then..thats why i do this right after they are borning..also if you give your fry a 20%water change every second day..feed blood worms and brine shrimp some good flake food..about 3 -4 times a day that will help them grow faster..i also like to feed egg yoke about onces a week ..try to put fry into 10gallon tank to start with..then after 2 weeks move them into a grow out tank...20 gallons is good...1 female tank 1 male tank..my guppies are always ready by 10 weeks old to go to their new homes..by 3 weeks you can see the colours on them..not all but you can tell what colours they will be..mind you i know ..what colours they will be ..even before she drops..unleast for some reason i get a throw back..but i shouldnt ..my lines are pure..
