I seen ramshorns and japanese trapdoors being kept in bowls quite successfully, it all depends on the amount of snails you're hoping to get. The others I am not sure.
However, most snails that you mentioned prefer to be on the substrate, so IMO it would be better to have a long rather than tall tank. I would say a 6.6 - 10g will do quite well, however, bigger is better! ;-)
Algae pellets depends on the amount of snails, I would start off with 1 per day and if they eat it rather quickly - like in an hour - you know that you have to increase the food intake a bit or they might snack on your plants. Snails also like eating veggies like de-shelled peas, carrots, lettuce, potato, zucchini & cucumber. You don't always have to give them processed foods.
I would set it up like a normal fish tank and use some fast growing plants and some java fern as I heard they have a bitter taste in fish, however not sure in snails...
