From the way you guys are talking you sound like you know your Plecos. I'm having trouble distinguishing a certain pleco in my tank. Can anyone help? This tank was handed down to me so I didn't pick out the pleco myself. i have a picture of it but I'm not sure how to upload it in a message, should i post it to photobucket first or something?
It's weird because I have a sailfin common pleco and then this mystery pleco and they had a baby. The baby is a suckermouth like the common but it's colored and spotted like the other pleco. Now, to describe this pleco, I can only say it's not bottom swimming or long and skinny like I see all over the internet. It's fatter and swims at all levels but has these feeler-antenna things for bottom-feeding, which made me think it was bristlenose; but I can't find any pictures anywhere giving me a hint at what this type of pleco is. It has fins kinda like a lionfish does...
If anyone can help it would be much appreciated! I can't determine which is the male or female, and the previous owner had absolutely no idea there was a baby pleco in the tank. I'd like to know what type of pleco the adult is, because along with my sharks and catfish, I have way too many algae eaters in my tank and would like to get rid of one of the adults, if not both.
