Odd, I haven't had any that would even nip on my plants. I have anubias, several types of stem plants, swords, java moss, crystalwort, umbrellas and the like and they leave them all be. Perhaps I just haven't had any they like to eat yet. lol

I just realised I put it on the wrong subject, oh well, it was odd lot of people told me that they don't eat plants but I saw them and then they nip and cut the stem off. Do you have gravel only?

Honestly I think gravel is easier, I've heard several members disagree with that though. But both critters and plants seem to like sand more. It is actually a lot better for them.

Yeah it is worth it to get sand. lol However...I suggest instead of aquarium sand, you go for just normal sand that you can get at most hardware stores. You can get a LOT more for a great deal less cost, it's heavier, slightly larger which is actually better for any sifters, and easier to clean.

You would need to remove the fish until it settles. I used a bucket with some plants, tank water and my filter. Only took about a day, should be less with normal sand, but once settled, do a good water change too.

That's what I thought too. LOL

Well, gravel is just fine provided you don't have any sifting fish, cories or loaches. I haven't had any issues with it in my crayfish and livebearer tanks.
