I have a dwarf balloon cichlid, who recently developed a bump on its head. I believe it also just had eggs with my convict cichlid. It seems strange, but those are the only two cichlids I have, and the convict is DEFINITELY guarding a clutch of eggs. I don't know if the bump is something hormonal or if it's a disease. Just worried.

On the other had, I am beyond excited for the eggs to hatch!!! They are going to be crazy! I was not trying to breed them, they're both just in my big community tank with my guppies, bettas, baby turtle, and a goldfish.

Hard to see from the pic but he may have scraped his head or gotten nipped at. Just keep am eye on it and stay on top of water changes and it should hopefully clear up.

The convict may have laid eggs on her own and they might not be fertilized. Happens quite often. If they turn white the are not fertilized. Also not sure if a balloon type would be fertile as they are a man-made deformity. We'll just have to wait and see what happens. :)
