thats an awful lot of tanks!!!

i will know who to ask if i decide to go ahead with my cichlid tank in time to come.

do you have a fish room? or are these tanks just dotted about the house? i kinda hope you will reply with "dotted about the house" cause thats really amusing. at the moment im imaginng tanks everywhere - living room, kitchen, bedroom, bathroom etc

i would absolutely love to be able to have so many tanks, and with such beautiful inhabitants by the sounds of it
Lol I'd hate to disappoint ;) Yes, they're basically scattered around anywhere they will fit. The basement (its only a partial basement, not a full, as we live in a duplex) is pretty much a fish room with 6 tanks down there. The rest are upstairs. 5 are in the living room, and the rest are in our bedroom and the two spare bedrooms.
 thats brilliant!!!!

i live in a 2 bedroom flat, the bedroom i dont sleep in currently is full of all my mums furnature though because shes building her own house, but had to move out of the old one ages ago therefore is living in a rented house just now etc etc etc so all the furnature is probably going to be there for another year or so yet, but when she eventually does take it back, i think ill make it a fish room. at the same time though, the 2 tanks i have just now are in the living room, and thats where i like them really cause i can see them all the time. i dont know if id really want to have them in a different room because id either just hardly see them, or more likely - nobody would ever see me (because id be in the fish room). well wait and see though

Hi Julie, no he died a few months back. I was gutted - he was a real character. I love that about cichlids - they have real personalities. :)

sorry to hear that :(

i agree about the character. ive only got the 3 (now its only 2  ) blue rams but theyre really fun to watch. they hang about together all the time and seem to have wee kinda squabbles amongst themselves - nothing malicious or anything, and they generally get on with their own business.

im planning on making my own tank in the summer when i have more time. if its sucessful i plan on making it a small cichlid tank and will look for gold rams to put in it after seeing yours because i thought he looked really nice. they wouldnt fight with the blue rams would they?

i have discus, angelfish, GBRs
personally i find my discus were amazing and i would take them over any other fish. angelfish are my second fav, thier friendly, and like to follow me and are full of personality...and the GBRs...well they like attacking the siphon and the female likes to swim in and out of it.

cichlids, any type you choose, are always the way to go

Well, I really don't know where to start since the basement has grown by another 28 tanks. (That makes 340 tanks currently in operation. I counted them just Saturday after the better half said I had too many. lol) I currently have 31 species (inc. subspecies and color morphs) of African cichlids in breeding colonies. There are also 24 species of SA cichlids (again including subspecies and color morphs) in breeding colonies. Many of the African cichlids are Victorians. My favorite is hard to determine, probably the one spawning at that given moment.

No. If I know Herefishy, he got it all from his very own business.:) He breeds fish and sells them as they mature.;)

Gold rams fall under blue rams which are the original ones. Gold rams were selectively bred. Were you talking about Sid? I had talk with Kate a lot about Sid until I heard a terrible news from her that he died. I also have gold rams in my new thread 'Latest Acquisitions' in Freshwater Pictures and Videos which was loaded mostly of my hillstream loaches.:)

cichlids

hi

before now
I had a tank with so many oscars ( normal king tiger ,...) I learn to grow them and get babies ,......
and some other wild cichlids like african and macros

but now I have 3 tanks the display , breeding and babies

In display tank I have 13 discus
in breeding I have 6 angels (3 pairs).

and I have 10 angel babies which I myself hatch them
but I can not grow baby brine shrimps and yolk is not enough for them
I post that problem and nobody told me how to do that :? :(

Arash I've never attempted to hatch brine shrimp, but where I live they're very readily available in fish stores. Maybe you could try yours to see if you can just buy some. They're very inexpensive over here as well.
