My kitty got to my beautiful duck
If I was somehow able to remove the duck from the wood, could I use the wood in my tank?

WOW !!That's a cool duck .That duck would look so great in a tank as a ornament. Yeah you could use that .But make sure there's no bugs in it ..Just clean it first before sticking it in the tank

You might have to anchor it down for a couple of weeks though.

It seems like a regular piece of driftwood so it could be okay. You just may need to soak submerged for a time to get it water logged. Hard to know what tannin's may remain. Be on the lookout for any signs of growths or fungus as woods are a food source that have a tendency to develop these.

I've personally kinda turned a bit of a blind eye to naturals like this in favor of some of the decent real looking plastic and ceramics now available that won't leach or bleed unwanted elements into the water.

Yeah, Kiitty has ad her fair share of running into, climbing and fighting with the balcony screen. My downstairs neighbors love the birds and constantly keep the bird feeders full. So it's a constant tease for her. I had finally found the perfect wall anchor to hang that duck, came home from dinner and found tuffs of feathers everywhere. She atleast spared his left side LOL

I wouldn't, Due to the fact that most taxidermist use chemicals to preserve the wood from rotting and bugs.. So i really would not chance it. IMHO.

This seems very sensible advice. You've no way of knowing what may have been done to that wood.

Wood absorbs liquids deep, and they can take months to eventually leech out. I had it once, killed half my fish before I realized it was something toxic from a piece of wood.
