Nearly all of the fish profiles were written by a former member here, but TFK team appear's to be taking the credit, with the author receiving mention only as contributer.(I just now noticed this travesty)
Is for this reason I can no longer participate.
Best wishes fellow fish hobbyist's.

I know that change was done while he was still here, when the forum was receiving an overhaul.

I also know that I'll miss your intelligent, sensible posts.

I must be missing the part where anyone is taking credit. Care to point that out to me since they are obviously still Byron's work and untouched. Are you perhaps complaining that someone moved them (hence the listing under TFK team). You know with the forum realignment. I'm sure if Byron had wanted to leave his password, then it could red his name instead. How about instead of making up scandals and complaining you calmly ask about things or think them through? I'm not even a mod and I can figure this one out

Yes he is given credit on each profile.
The TFK team profile was created because if the posts all appeared under just his name it would be unfair to other contributors. Many people contribute to these profiles so we created a generic user to be the poster of the profiles, credits at the bottom.

He was the Author of nearly all of the profiles, not merely contributer.Profiles now say,, BY TFK team.
That is my beef, Not many put in the work to present the material that now says..by TFK team .
He was far more than contributer with respect to fish profiles not withstanding those that I may have contributed to.

So when there's multiple authors we should just give Byron all the credit? :s

Would it be better if the contributing authors were listed at the top of the post instead of at the bottom? I mean, is that what this is about - people knowing that byron wrote the profile before they read it?

Though he is no longer an active member here, Byron put a lot of time and effort into making our profiles what they are - we would never seek to take the credit from him for his amazing contributions. Byron is the author of nearly, if not all, of the profiles, something that will always be very much appreciated by all of us! He is also the one who put his own name down as 'contributor,' as opposed to 'author.' I'm not entirely positive why it was decided so many years ago to use this specific wording, but I'm fairly sure Byron was involved in that decision, as well.

The profiles have been undergoing a dramatic move for several months now, this process began before Byron left, and at that time there was much discussion put into what would be the most efficient way to manage this task. It was decided, with Byron's vote, to move and re-post all of the profiles under this generic TFK Team name. Doing it this way allows all of the moderators to help with this massive undertaking, and we all felt that posting under a 'generic' user name would help in avoiding just this type of situation! I certainly wouldn't feel comfortable posting any of the profiles back up under my own name!

Byron moved a great many of the profiles himself - re-posting them under the TFK Team name . . .if he had any reservations with the way these profiles are now being posted, he certainly would have mentioned it, or at the very least suggested another way. The profiles were Byron's 'baby,' not one of us would have objected it if he had chosen to have them posted in his name, instead.

I hope that this eases your mind, I assure you that in NO WAY would we seek to take the credit away from Byron for all of his hard work and dedication. I appreciate your concern in this, but as far as I am aware, it truly is unfounded. . . I feel sure Byron would have spoken up if he felt that this was not the best way for us to go about this.

I hate to see you go, 1077 - I do hope that you will reconsider. I would miss your posts, too - your experience and input is valued by many members (and mods!) here on TFK. . .

Byron himself pretty much moved, edited and made the profiles on the TFK Team account... But I can see where you are coming from.

All the profiles are posted under TFK Team to keep them from looking disorderly, and be somewhat officially TFK. Since only mods can post in the area, WE don't want to take credit for the profiles if another member wrote them as well. so posting under the account TFK Team was the best solution at the time.

Ofcourse we can bring it up with admin to rename the account "Profile" or something... But first we will have to see if TFK Team was used to post anything else to avoid confusion.

Byron was a very very big part of the changes and decision made about the new profiles...it's practically his brainchild.

Edit: Just noticed this is under fresh water and tropical fish o_O
i'm going to move this to suggestions and feedback :3

Carinotetraodon travancoricus
Family:*TetraodontidaeCommon
Names:*Dwarf Puffer
Origin and Habitat:*Endemic to the Kerala region of India and found in lakes and slow-moving rivers with plenty of submerged vegetation, leaf litter and sunken wood.*Compatibility/Temperament:*These fish are highly aggressive despite their size If adding tank mates one should use caution as they will nip the fins of slow moving fish.*Dwarf Puffer DietLive foods are best such as black worms, white worms, and snails. Frozen foods can be introduced and accepted such as Blood worms, Brine Shrimp, Mysis Shrimp, Daphnia, Tubifex Worms, Glass Worms (mosquito larva), and Krill. (Note: Brine Shrimp should not be use for more then a treat as they lack nutritional value.)*SizeMax size- 1 inch*Minimum Tank Suggestion5 gallons but preferably 10*Water parameters for Dwarf PufferWater chemistry is not a major issue and dwarf puffers adapt well to a broad range of conditions. Provided extremes are avoided. Ideal conditions would be around pH 7.5, 10dH for general maintenance, though somewhat softer conditions may be required for spawning. Temp should be 77 and 82 degrees F.*DescriptionA truly beautiful fish. Its one of the smallest Puffers to be found. Males will have a dark line that runs down their bellies ( This will darken will sexual maturity and during spawning times.) They will also have more of a yellow belly. Males will also have lines or wringles behind their eyes. Females do not have these traits and their bodys are generally more round then the males.Even though these fish are small just barely measuring an 1 inch they require tanks big enough to be able to accommondate their personalities and messy habits. These fish are very curious and the tank should be heavily planted and have lots of driftwood in the tank for them to explore. This also serves as a way to break up the line of sight when housing more then one puffer. If the tank is bare they will get bored very easy and start to tank surf (swimming up and down the glass). They will often learn that your presence means food and will come out to the front of the tank anytime you walk near it.General Rule when housing more then one puffer in the same tank is 1 puffer for the first 10 gallons and then 5 gallons per fish after that. In bigger tanks housing more then one puffer its best to have just one male. Having more then one male in the tank can result in fights and even death.Contributing MembersThe following members have contributed to this profile: Antagany, Boredomb
This is the profile for the Dwarf puffer. I rewrote the whole thing awhile back. Now Antagany had originally wrote it and i did leave some of what s/he had there but not much. I still don't mind that Antagany name is still there and as you can see both our names are still there even though this profile is posted under Byron's name in the reference area. This doesn't bother soo much as I contribute to it and that hasn't changed in the profile.

I can see where you are coming from 1077 but they had put the profiles on the forum. Where as before they were not. By doing this they had to have someone post them under a name. Do I agree with with name? Doesn't bother me to see TFK team as it is a little better then one persons make. Would I have done it this way if I was in charge? No, would ask members their opinion on the matter of how to post them and under what name since it has to be that way as some members did write them. Nonetheless nothing has changed as for who has the credit for writing them. That hasn't changed nor did the staff ever mean for it to.

I am sorry this is bothering you but just walking away from the problem at hand does nothing to solve it. Why not make suggestion on the matter and TFK staff why not in the future ask for opinions on such matters. Working together only makes the forum and its ppl stronger!

As the original profiles were Byron's baby so were the new Reference Section profiles also to be Byron's baby. His area to design and rewrite and transfer over from the old section. Given free rein to set them up within the parameters of "threads" and "posts". Remember we needed to get the old profiles off that were "sticking out" so to speak. That is why we did not put it out to the forum members. It was Byron's to create.

The changes you will see over the next few weeks will be more sorting by common name. We need a "Google" or "Bing" type search of a common name to bring you to TFK... they don't work that way right now, we seem to be on page 4 ish... and we are moving forward with these changes with the guidance of our Admin.

1077, Byron was the one that used the 'TFK Team' account to change those profiles over from our old software add-on to here directly on the forum. It was his idea so that if members did contribute or write the first post, it wasn't looking as if Byron wrote it.

Guess I will come out of my cave for a minuet and say why don't you just treat each species profile like a thread? Thats what the vast majority of other sites have always done and it works well, they are part of the forum now anyway. Simply mod preview posts and that way no one has to complain about who wrote what and its posted under the users own name. Currently its impossible to tell who contributed what when there are multiple contributors. When it comes to personal experience thats fairly important. Being able to remove info from previous members is bad taste to me.

Honestly this site is bleeding experienced members and I've pretty much given up on waiting for changes that will never come. Its comforting to know that its more concerned about the google rank then things like taking 30 minuets to fix the broken stickies or a few minuets to remove/hide them so people can actually get help when they click them and not a blank page. Been broke for well over a month, been mentioned, still broke. Simply the site had and still has lots of problems and its too frustrating for some to deal with.

I am sorry this is bothering you but just walking away from the problem at hand does nothing to solve it. Why not make suggestion on the matter and TFK staff why not in the future ask for opinions on such matters. Working together only makes the forum and its ppl stronger!
While this was and still is true. I tried and your experiences will vary, hopefully vary the opposite of mine. Still offer suggestions once in a blue moon just to contradict myself ;-).

Can you explain this part in more detail?

Not trying to push here, but has there been any headway on the reference team that the announcement said was forming? I figured it would be their job to fix the stickies and deal with profiles. I don't think I've heard any mention of them since, unless they are active already? Fixed stickies would be really nice. Just as one example, it gets tedious typing up the nitrogen cycle for seemingly every new member when I should just be able to drop a link.

BWG brings up a good point here..... I've been curious about this matter, too. That announcement was made well over a month ago - almost two months now, and says that you had already created a reference team. So my question is why are they not handling these profiles? Was Byron the only reference team member?? I am not trying to sound rude, just been wondering...

No, you don't sound rude at all. I think it's a legitimate question and it's something we really need to get done.

The reference Team is still very much on the cards, we already have a list of people who we will be asking shortly. If any of you have any suggestions, we would like to hear them as to potential people for the reference team.

There are various reasons that we do not want the profiles as threads, one being that irrelevant comments potentially harm the profiles for other people. Many people register to view them and other sections of the site but wont actually participate, this is something we are looking at also.

We are very open to suggestions that you have, many of the people who have posted here are very knowledgeable and we value your experience on the site, so please keep any suggestions coming.

Thanks everyone.
