A little update and more experimentation.
First, a few new plants from the local lake. My daughter and I were out canoeing and she spied some interesting looking plants that she wanted to try out... and some snails too. I don't have any idea what they are. The first is a floater, the other two tend to sink so I tucked them into the sand just to hold them in one place. All these plants were kept outside in a pail for a week in our well water to make sure that the water wasn't going to just kill them off. The snails have been in there for a few weeks before being moved.
Then is an overall tank shot after some maintenance last night. I've had some algae showing up on the vals more than usual but I expected that with the large boost in lighting levels. I could easily reduce the photo period but choose not to at this point. I cut out all the affected vall leaves, removed some older plants altogether, severely cut back the duckweed and pennywort.
There is also a shot of the Java Moss bunch on the main driftwood. That stuff has become integrated into the wood crevasses in such a way that it couldn't be removed if I wanted to. I gave it a severe hair cut and found all new shoots coming from the wood itself.
A dwarf lily bulb is not doing as well as I expected that it might, it has shot off two plants and started a we tiny new one again. perhaps the completely new one will be OK as it is starting under the current water and light conditions. No specific pics of these.
I've been lax in my fertilization so i will be getting back into a weekly dosing of Seachem's Flourish Comprehensive as this may also affect the algae growth.
Frogbit seems to be mostly languishing but this may be mostly original leaves and stems dropping off as the newer ones emerge, no specific pics of these either.
Oh, last is the new snail as he/she comes out of their shell the first time to have a peak around.
