Folks:

Once again I do enjoy being the "bad a.s" but:
if you got enough $'s to purchase a tank, filtration equipment, fish, etc.
then you have committed to the procurement of a test kit.

How would you like to (and I believe that these are BB's words) be swimming in a bar full of smoke for day on end?

I use the TetraLaborett and trhe TetraTest nitrate kit.
I have had "good look" with these kits.

I'm using the API Freshwater Master Test Kit. It has tests for PH (6.0 - 7.6), High PH (7.4 - 8.8), Ammonia (NH3/NH4+), Nitrite (NO2-), and Nitrate (NO3-). It claims 700 tests, and was $30 at Petco.

AP master test kit because when I needed it was all my LFS had that had everything I needed. Reliable enough to test for what i need and to tell me what I need to know.

I use mardel test strips for Ph, Hardness, Alkalinity, Nitrite, Nitrate and ammonia

I use the API Master Test Kit also. It's the liquid dropper kind. It's nice, but it takes a wee bit longer. Does pH, High pH, ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, kh. . But I do like the strips kind. Just dunk it in the water let it sit for a minute and there's your results.
