Hi All,

I really need your help! I have a 30 Gal with about 4 Chilchlids, the local pet shop told me I can keep them in their peacefully, but that’s not the case. They are really aggressive with each other. Anyhow, I will be taking them back to the pet store this weekend and wanted to know what other kind of Fish I can keep in my tank. Any suggestions?

I am new to the hobby..

First you need to decide what type of Cichlids you want. Do you want African Cichlids or American Cichlids. I can help you with a list of Cichlids that will get along. My advice would be to go with Mbuna from the Rift Lakes in Africa. They thrive in Lake Malawi and are readily available at most local pet stores. They will do well in your 30 gallon.

Thanks for the response, but as stated in the post. I am looking for anything other than chichlids. I'll go back to them maybe later on once I have a bigger tank.

Mbuna is not well suited for 30 g setups

You can make a community tank with the 30 - opposite of the aggressive cichlids you had.

The PH stays around 6-7.5, but I don't know the GH or KH.
