I have a 10 gallon aquarium that had 3 neons, 2 rummy nose, 1 lemon tetra and a small catfish. Everything has been fine for 2 years.
Suddenly and apparently simultaneously all the fish died except the catfish.
The only thing I can think of is a sudden depletion of oxygen. I cleaned the filter box & changed out the filter insert immediately I removedd the fish bodies within 30 mins of the event :(
Today, 24 hours later, Mr Catfish soldiers on.
I am planning on cleaning the gravel with a small suction device & possibly changing out 4-5 gallons of water.

What besides oxygen depletion could have caused this?

Did you test your water? An ammonia spike could cause that. Cory's and other catfish are especially hardy and might survive conditions that tetras wont.

The other thing I'd check is that your heater is working. A sudden drop in temperature could be the culprit too.
