Hello!

I am going to be stocking a 40 gallon tank and I am looking for suggestions. I want to put 1 (or2) Peacock eels in the tank. You said they will eat the babies of the rams? - will they eat other fish that are not fry? Thanks!

Hello,

I am new to this website but I have had several different tanlks. I am going to be setting up a 40 gallon freshwater tank this summer and I need some help. My original thought was to get 1 (or2) Peacock eels and find other fish that will get along with them for the tank. I am also curious abot Dragon Gobies - they seem like cool fish but I need to know more about them. (I know that I cannot have both and pet stores don't give any helpful advice). Does anyone have suggestions for tank mates for the peacock eels or fish I should look at? Thank you! (sorry if I posted in the wrong place)

Many people that actually have peacock eels say community fish are good to put with them, they eat slowly and putting aggressive fish with them or a lot of bottom feeders may result in them not getting much to eat.

Welcome to Tropical Fish Keeping forum.:-D

We have fish profiles, but this particular eel, being Macrognathus siamensis is not yet included, so I will give you a link to some reliable data that may help:
Tropical fish - Macrognathus siamensis - Peacock Eel

They don't mention possible tankmates, but I have heard that any other fish should be large enough not to be seen as food. And avoid the active tankmates as kaysparf mentioned.
