Hi
I read somewhere that you can blanch spinach and then feed it to platys as theyre herbivores and prefer this to meat. What i want to know is can you do this and can you completely repalce fish food with blanched spinach. Also,if it is used as a supplement to flake food how much should i feed them?

Any help would be greatly appreciated :-D

Old Fish Lady shared a great homemade recipe on here a while back. Take a raw shrimp, some blanched spinach, and a clove of garlic. Mash it all up into a paste and freeze it.

I feed this to my community tank (there are 6 platys in there) a few times a week in place of flakes/bloodworms and they all go ballistic for it.

Just break of a little piece, thaw it in some tank water and feed. Just be sure that it's small enough for those little fish mouths so they don't get a huge piece and try to swallow it all at once.
