So this morning when I fed my fish I noticed that there were a bunch of small white things on several of the walls of the tank. I think my Oscar might have contracted Ich but he seems to be getting better, and he is the only one out of 6 others in the tank that was ill. This doesn't appear to be Ich anyway though, as the specs are not round dots like you usually see, they almost look like hair, as if you shaved or trimmed your eyebrows. They also didn't appear to be moving, so I didn't fear it was a form of algae or parasite. Still though, it is weird and has me a little confused and slightly worried.

Anyone seen this before or have any thoughts? I feed them twice a day and didn't notice it last night about 12 hours earlier...

I read something similar either on this site or another one, and forgive my ignorance but.... I don't have a snail?? Can they self-spawn on their own, and if so, what would all of a sudden cause that to happen?

Usually come in on new plants which seems to be not the case.

Could be some kind of infusoria (bugs) also.

hard to tell.

in my planted tanks they are always snail eggs.

Sorry
