I recently had a betta die on me, and another that has seems pretty sick for a while. The betta that just died was stressed, then incredibly lethargic, and when I found him dead in the next 8 hours, he had large graphite colored spots on his fins. He also had his tail end higher than his head because of a curved sline, and his gills were sticking out. he was in a tank with two other bettas, two cory cats, and a pleco. I have been seeing white spots on fish in that tank, but I've experienced ich before and I don't think that's it.
The other sick betta has white scales around his head, which used to be black. He's getting thinner and thinner, and now he has trouble swimming. He mostly hangs out at the top, which is unusual for him. When he swims, his tail end is higher than his head so his spine is curved. He is in a tank with another betta, who seems fine, and two plecos.
I'm thinking this could possibly be a strand of mycobacteria. Does anyone know what's going on?
