Ok, so I've read somewhere that you can sex these guys by the shape of the swim bladder up and behind the abdominal cavity? I understand this... But I'm having trouble, I see something, but I'm not really sure if its a swim bladder or like poop or something.Does anyone have more experience with these guys? Sexing and breeding? I wouldn't mind giving breeding a go, I have a ten gallon with nothing going on in it so why not give it a try.

If anyone can give me tips or maybe even show me a picture of a male vs. a female? That would greatly help, thanks

Thanks Willow! You can see a pretty obvious difference in the two sex's in the picture you provided. Lol its a little harder to tell in my tank, but I *think* I have one male and three females. I'll probably spend the rest of my day in front of my fish tank until I'm more sure. It's really hard to tell with these guys.

If you look really,really close the male serpae will have a tiny little mustache and the female won't. Unless the Female is Italian then the hint of a tiny mustache is not uncommon.

Lol, was that serious? Because I just got a good look at them and I was really looking for a 'mustache' and then I thought ... What am I even looking for.

So I just found this thread and I’m having an extremely hard time trying to identify genders in my school, I have 6 but only able to get pictures of 5(one of the little fellers is camera shy) but I would greatly appreciate any help and I figure this would be good practice for people like me trying to train their eyes
