Ok stupid question time, lol. I am just starting a FOWLR tank and want to add salt to mixed(salt) RO water that I bought to get up to the desired SG level. Now the bag says how to do the whole tank but doesnt say how to go about adding to it amount wise once your salt is added and the SG isn`t high enough. Should I adjust using a measured cup @ a time or?

Thanks in advance

It's a good question.

It's generally going to be different for each salt mix, but it's going to be half a cup per gallon and it'll usually get the SG up to 1.022 (again, depending on the brand). If that's too low for you then you can raise it higher before you add it to the tank, if it's too high, dilute it with more OR/DI water. Use your refractometer to get the correct SG reading, if you don't have one i highly suggest getting it as they are the only accurate meter.

Before you start using the salt, you will need to mix it up. Shake the container, bag, or box to ensure that certain ingredients didn't settle to the bottom.

With a FOWLR 1.022 is a fine SG for the tank so i wouldn't worry all too much about getting it any higher.

Hope it helps
