I have a 20g from which I tried to remove a pest snail population. 10 days later I have seen a few small snails. All live animals are in a QT. There's nothing but live plants in the 20g. I want to add salt to the 20g the get rid of any leftover pests. How much should I add ? Will salt hurt the plants? Or will salt even get the snails?

is this a freshwater tank ? if yes you can add 1 teaspoon per gallon and one tablespoon for each 5 gallons more salt than that if freshwater can hurt some plants I think I don't know how much salt to put on any higher levels but I know 1 teaspoon per gallon is safe for most plants and most fish but sad to say I don't think it will help with the snails im sorry I don't know how to get rid of the snails I only know the safe amount of salt for freshwater I hope I was able to help you. if you have anymore questions I will do my best to help you as quick as I can.

I would not add the salt.

for that matter I would do nothing.

I always have an initial snail bloom in the first month(s).

then a year later there are only a few left.

So I just do nothing.

besides I find the snails kinda neet and they do clean up the tank.
