Hey all,

My current tank setup is a 55G that currently houses a bichir and a ropefish, among other fish. I've always wanted to do a planted tank, and I was also in the market to get another Bichir because I know they like to be kept in pairs (his partner passed away a few weeks after i got them) but I plan on giving them their own tank.

Has anyone attempted to put a Bichir in a planted tank? Personally I've never seen him messing with decorations, and I have 2 live moss balls in my 55G that he leaves alone.

I know he's not the prettiest fish to put in one, But i know it would have a lot of hiding places for him and would feel more natural.

My bichir is currently half grown, at roughly 6.5"

As long as you stick with hardy plants, they should be fine. I've seen a few people have success with sengals with plants over the webs, so I wpuld suggest in trying it out.... might as well start when its younger - and less likely to damage the plants- so they can settle in.
