Hi everyone,
I am just about to re-establish a 50 (usg) tank after a 8 year lay off. I've kept tropical fish for more than 15 years. I'm a bit old fashioned and enjoy plenty of quality plants and small fish. I've always managed to keep a fairly balanced tank(s) with the occasional algae bloom on the glass. Plants have generally grown well. I have been caught out a few times trying to grow pretty plants that iInow discover were not true tank plants. I've read a lot about co2 producing equipment. My question is do these co2 enhancers make a difference to plant growth or is it a con? Some use fermenting yeast to produce co2, do they really make a difference. I understand the chemistry and the need for plant nutrients etc. I also note that low wattage under gravel heaters are not recommended.
Thanks.
