Hey everyone!
My name's Makenna, or Mak for short. I currently have 2 tanks (plus a quarantine tank), both freshwater.
I guess I started keeping fish again because we always (ALWAYS) had pets growing up and my sad little apartment didn't feel like home without any. Due to my hectic schedule and my apartment complex's "no pets" rule (nothing with fur and/or that could cause destruction), fish were a perfect fit.
Despite a few traumatizing failed attempts at keeping fish in my childhood, I gave it another go and found I really loved my "fish babies." (My boyfriend calls me the crazy fish lady, so I tease him by calling them that.)
Not only do they make me happy and give me that sense of home, but they calm me down and relax me. My blood pressure has actually gone down since I started keeping fish! I've gone from prehypertension to the 'normal' range, which is awesome.
I realize this all may sound like a late-night infomercial, and if you've read this far, I appreciate it. I look forward to participating in the community
