I am looking to expand my FOWLR and start keeping a few anemones and soft corals.

I have been looking at reef testing kits online. I haves seen that some test for silicates, phosphates and iodine; while others test calcium, KH and phosphate; yet others test calcium, KH and magnesium. Obviously there other combinations as well. I would like to be able to test calcium and KH, but which other tests will be essential for me??? Are there any test kits that are recomended?

Need to test for, CA, ALK, PHOSPPHATE, MAGNESIUM, PH, HARDNESS, and of course the usualls.

alk, cal, mag, ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, ph at the minimum. a thermometer or two for temp and a refractometer for salinity ( check ebay )

API, salifert, elos are good brands. i want to also say its the new red sea max tests that i have also heard being decent but not sure if that was the brand and i havnt experienced using it myself.

if your tank is established i'd check ca, alk, mg. do your monthly 20% water change and you should be ok. i'd run phosphate remover and make sure your lights are good enough to keep those new animals. i used salifert tests. just my .02 cents
