Hi, we had a power outage last night due to freezing rain. It may last for up to 3 days. I am really worrying about my two bettas. Do they even stand a chance of making it through this? The temperature outside is below freezing. The tank is still at 23C, and its 16C in the house.

Is there any way I can keep my bettas warm? Please help.

We're iced in bad too but at least we have power so far. (north of Toronto)
It will be hard to regulate his tank but I agree with using the hot water. The alternative is to put hot water in a pan and set his bowl or tank in the pan. That way you are not adding the hot water direct to his tank. ( I don't trust the crud in hot water tanks and would never drink hot water straight from the tap.) You could then wrap a quilt or blanket around the pan. Slower heat transfer to the tank and you can use a bit more water that way. Bigger volume might be slower? Maybe? Just a perspective. What province are you in btw?

Thank you for your replies. I've wrapped the tank in a blanket. Unfortunately I don't have any hot water. I live on a high floor, and the little water that is trickling from the tap is very cold. I don't know what else I can do. Hopefully they will fix the electricity soon.
