I'm wondering if there is a type of pleco that remains as small as possible and produces as little waste as possible. My ten gallon could really use a pleco, but I don't want to overdo the tank.

I love plecos, but also wanted something that would stay small. And that's when I found the bristlenose plecos. Adult size is 5-6 inches. Great algae eaters.

I have a book that says butterfly plecos are also good algae eaters, and stay small -- about 4 inches. But it is recommended to have only one in a tank.

10 Gallon Pleco:):):)

The best pleco for your tank would be a bristlenose. They only get 5 to 6 in. long and are the most affordable of the small plecos. You can get them on ebay fairly cheep and they will be delivered to your door. Any other questions you an find me at www.myspace.com/aquatic_bay Hope this helped:)
