I've never used it, I've only had my tank set up for a week, but I've heard the Freshwater Master Test Kit is really good. In fact, that is what my LFS uses. I didn't buy from my LFS since they sell it for $35, and my local Walmart doesn't carry it. So I ordered it online from Big Al's and it should be here Friday.

That looks like the API test kit to me. As long as it includes Ammonia, nitrite, nitrate and ph I would go for that one.

That looks like the API test kit to me. As long as it includes Ammonia, nitrite, nitrate and ph I would go for that one.

API freshwater master test kit, its in a clear container.

A basic tester should have the neccesities

Ammonia
Nitrite
Nitrate
High range ph
ph

You can get these although they are not "needed"
Gh
Kh
O2
CO2

I went and they only had the strips.......but the walmart that i normally go to does carry it for sure.
