This is for the tank I'm setting up as of now it is going to be Fish Only, but it will probably become FOWLR. This is a 50 gallon tank 48 by 24. Could anyone please suggest lighting?

TR this is a fish only tank.

Just get whatever lighting fits in your budget. It doens't matter with fish. Probably a good 10K for light and a 20K actinic for color. I'd suggest 2 T5 or VHO bulbs the length of the tank and one actinic. The 2 daylight bulbs will overpower the "blueness" of your actinic but you'll still get that color pop.

alright, thanks for the information.

If anyone knows a good site with some links to the products they suggest also that might be good.

I also have another question....

Is it safe for fish to be in the tank for a few day before I have lighting, or is this a very bad idea?

alright, so I'm guessing that's an okay to move then to the tank when ready even without lights.

It'll be alright. Of course try not to just keep them in complete cave like darkness. As long as the room lights up with natural light they should fare well. If the tank is black with no light, you might just trn on a room lamp near the tank. You just don't want to spook them when you add the lights to the tank.
