Just get whatever lighting fits in your budget. It doens't matter with fish. Probably a good 10K for light and a 20K actinic for color. I'd suggest 2 T5 or VHO bulbs the length of the tank and one actinic. The 2 daylight bulbs will overpower the "blueness" of your actinic but you'll still get that color pop.
It'll be alright. Of course try not to just keep them in complete cave like darkness. As long as the room lights up with natural light they should fare well. If the tank is black with no light, you might just trn on a room lamp near the tank. You just don't want to spook them when you add the lights to the tank.
