I have what is probably a stupid question...but I thought it was worth a try.
I have a friend who has a pond...no fish in it, just the occasional ducks and a few turtles. At one point she had some duckweed in there (no idea where it came from), and we decided to harvest a small amount of it and see if it would grow in an aquarium.
Well, I wanted to QT it *completely* away from everything else...just in case this was a disaster. So, I stuck it in a small Rubbermaid container with plain tapwater, gave it some light and Flourish, and left it alone. It's been about two weeks now, and as of yesterday the water is now filled with tiny black dots...and they jump. I'm assuming water fleas?
My question is, is this stuff safe to put in my betta tanks? Or should I just dump it? No harm, no foul, it was free and I just wanted to see what would happen, and it hasn't "contaminated" anything else, so dumping it seems like the safest option...but I wondered if anyone on here would have some more information and experience.
I'm pretty new to plants, I can keep the "hardy low light" variety alive pretty well, but nothing more complicated than that.
Information, experience, and opinions are greatly appreciated!!
