What I would do is add a small sponge to the filter, this will slow down the flow rate of the aquarium but may help you with your plants, but I would place my filter intake below the spray bar. The spray bar is more powerful that the intake thus not sucking your plants up.

sweet, when I mean spray bar I mean the return pump, so where that water comes back into that tank place the intake above/next/below it.

I would not worry, your plants will be sweet.
