Hello All
Can someone tell the affects of a high ph on fish of 8.2 using a kit everything else is in the normal range some say don't mess with it just keep it the same no high/low up and down. I do 25% water changes weekly.

Just Trying to learn is there a drop test for GK-KH what role does a water Softener cuz the higher the setting the more salt the softer the water I think ? I will try to call the water company or my city to find h20 info city water should be 7.0 Neutral right?
Oh also is it true your Filtration Penguin 400 bio wheel and a large air stone can cause higher ph

Yes the whole house is going thru the water softener even the outside Spicket. It was like that when we bought the house. So I by pass it when I clean my tank. Yeah The turquoise rainbows were kind of a mistake impulse buy my son and I didn't do any research so that was kind of a mistake by us. The test kit is a API master freshwater So if I understand right if my pH 8.2 that means it's Very soft water is this correct just not sure if I'm making a mountain out of a moe hill. I have a lot to learn.

Sorry also my water with the softener is right around 7.6 then after a week or so it's up to 8.2

Little info I found was my water is a hardness of 17gpg I will try and call for the GH/KH on monday and I did not know that it's possible the higher the ph the harder the water I will read the info you sent and thanks for that.
