Hiya!

So I've never actually cared for cichlids, and I'm not particularly planning on it. This is just for curiosity.

At one of my local fish/plant/pet stores, they have a display-only cichlid tank. It seems to be good quality-- water is clear, plenty of space for the fish, clean and all that. However, one of the fish, a little yellow fella, has what appears to be a caved in stomach, so bad that its whole body is almost a "c" shape. :frown2: It still swims and looks alert, active, etc. I've never seen the other fish chasing it.

Does anyone know what might be causing this? I have been to the store a few times in the past month or so and it's the same, the fish is still alive to my knowledge. Is it worth bringing it up to an employee?

Thanks if you can answer.

A caved in belly could be an indicator of internal parasites. I would bring it to the stores attention. The fish should be treated for internal parasites.
