Put an algae wafer in a cup of water, wait for it to soften to a mush, then break it up fine. When you add it to the tank its kinda messy and goes everywhere but ottos will soon clear it up. After a while of doing this my ottos learnt to find the algae wafers.

The best food for them is of course algae, which you can grow by putting some stones in tank water in a clear container on a sunny window. Once some algae has grown on the stone transfer it to your tank. The algae growing can be sped up with some plant ferts and a pinch of fish food that will decompose an produce ammonia.

I'ver never had any luck feeding them blanched veges as some people recommend.
