I have 3 otos and two have the same tail, but one has a much larger tail, but his body is the same size of the other two. I have heard that there is a fish that looks like the oto, but gets much larger than an oto. I was wondering if anyone knew what the fish is called, and if I got something other than an oto??

no way for pic right now. But two have short, stubby looking tails. where the other is longer, thinner and the two ends are sortta pointy instead of rounded.

I'm with molliefan, if you can't 100% ID them yourself with pictures from googel, please post a picture here so we can help.

The guy at the pet store is telling me that it is an oto. But if he does start to get too big, we will just put him in the community tank we are saving for. we hope to get a 30g tank after christmas. thanks for all your help. I understand it is hard to say since i can't post a pic, but i hope to have some up soon.

maybe a zebra(cocoma) otocinclus -- if you have it, you're lucky -- they are rare.
either that or you got the other oto species affinis or macrospilus
