ok here's the story, we been wanting to upgrade to a 55 from our 2 smaller tanks (10 and 20) so i started building the stand last week.I finished it lastnite
and this morning i put the last coat of varnish on it.Also we went and got a new 55 yesterday, witch is a long drive for us ,close to a hour.So tonite we started setting the new tank up,we used the substrate from the 20 as well as the decor plus i dismantled the canister filter,i put the bio-wheels in tank water to preserve the bio goodies that has grew on it.All the fish were moved to a smaller holding tank.We got the gravel and decor in the tank and i was in the process of hooking up the plumbing to the filter while my wife was carrying water and filling the tank, when i hear AHHH!!! and i look up and the tank is half full and its squirting water out from the corner OMG!! So we had to quickly drain the water below the leak. Now we had to set the 20 back up and tomorrow i get to return it to the place we got it from.I called and they were just closing for the day, I would think after all the trouble we had they could at least have offered to wait for us to drive there tonite but no they said just bring it back tomorrow.i explained it was a long drive then she asked if we had a Walmart close by, then suggested we go and by another 55 from walmart and put the leaking tank in the box from walmart and return it to them, she said i no its not honest but it will save you the long drive. So tomorrow im going back to the place of purchase and ask them if they would like it if i got a tank from another place that leaked and returned it to them..Plus im not leaving untill i get a refund or exchange and some kind of payment for the extra gas for having to make two long trips out of town not to mention all the inconvenience that this has caused.
Sorry for the long post but it makes me feel a little better sharing my experiences..
Also a quick question...Does alot of the larger tanks have black silicone in the corners with the clear in the bottom? that just dont make sense to me why put the black up on the side corners and use the clear on the bottom where it cant be seen anyway..I called and asked them early today and they said all there 55's has the black in the side corners and the clear in the bottoms. Now if i get there tomorrow and find they lied to me im really going to raise the roof cause im already upset with them and will prolly never do biusness them again after all this trouble.Especially if they wont do something to help pay for the extra gas and time this has cost me.It wouldn't have hurt them any bit to wait 1 extra hour for us to get there tonite rather then make us wait for tomorrow.Oh and were supposed to get up to 4 inches of snow tonite witch is going to make a long drive a very long drive...
Thanks for listening all...
Wish me luck cause i obviously need it...
