After months of patiently watching craigslist for a good deal on a 125 gallon tank, I finally got it! $300 for the tank, stand, glass tops and lights. Now begins the final stage of tank moving to make room for it. I've gotten rid of all the "smaller" tanks, and just have to break down and store the 55. I have to set up a double stand in the guest room to accommodate the quarantine tank below the 55, then I have to move the 90 from the living room to the kitchen where the 55 currently resides. THEN, I can bring the new 125 into the living room. This time, however, I am going to do the background BEFORE I set up the tank

Haven't really decided what to put in it yet.....

The 29 that was in the closet is set up, with the 20 long QT below it. The 55 and stand are now in the closet. Time to drain the 90 and move it to the kitchen.

You already know I'm super excited for you! (and yeah, I gotta admit, it *IS* always entertaining to 'watch' you juggle tanks) Great deal on all included. . . One of these days you're going to have to give in to the pressure and start a planted tank! Since that won't be today, I'll happily content myself to wonder how big that GORGEOUS hunk of Java will be allowed to grow in a 125g!

Please keep this thread updated with your progress! I can't wait to see this one grow! (and would really like to 'watch' you do a backround on your 125 before I attempt it on mine, lol!)

Hahaha, the java moss isn't going to get bigger than the one in the other 125 ;-)

As for juggling, I do it all myself. I have a friend coming over to help bring in the new tank though. I'm glad the 55 fit in the closet - I didn't want to put it up in the attic. My place is a MESS though. It really looks like a bomb went off, but once things are where they need to be it will all clear up. I'm going to have to get a bigger TV to put on the wall - it's going to look small above the 6 foot tank....

I say who needs a tv when you have a 6 foot tank. I'm actually working on a way to HIDE my TV, so the tank can take over the room!

How long does it take your moss to grow? Don't make me send it back. . . *giggle*

I don't see how you could ever possibly be distracted by a television. . . these pictures make me very happy - and more than a little bit jealous! ^.^ Can't wait for you to get it all set up and fishy!

It's gonna be a little while. I'm thinking about substrates and backgrounds. I have a good amount of tahitian moon sand, so I might go black with a spraypainted black background. But I have an equal amount of pool filter sand too. Maybe I mix the two?

I love TMS, currently planning on continuing that love into my 125, with a spray-painted background, when I get that far, lol.

I also have pool filter sand. It's soooooooo white. I really didn't prefer it in my tank over the TMS. Because I usually set up QT tanks using existing media, I've been playing with several ratios of the light and dark sands moved over from my other established tanks. I have found that I prefer it when there is more dark, less light sand in the mix - I disliked 50-50. I think I really am going to need a third shade in there if I'm going to be able to get over the salt and pepper feel. You might like salt and pepper! It drives me batty. All up to individual aesthetics, really. . . I might end up sticking to plain ol' TMS (leaning toward that) but still fun to experiment! I'm sure I can dig up some pictures of some tanks that have had mixes, if you'd like?

My PFS is tan - I love it in the 125 and 90. Just thinking about doing something else in this one.....

I like the sand in your tanks currently. I liked your moonlight sand, too. . . is the castle coming back?!

The moonlight sand is in the 29 I set in the guest room. It's housing the straggler fish I haven't gotten rid of yet. It DOES look nice.

I currently have my tank will a spraypainted black background. I think it looks really nice. Hope this helps you will your decision.
