New setup after a long time away.

Hey all, new to the forums, but from what I have read it liooks like i signed up with a good crowd! :-D: lol:

So I am looking to get back into a Freshwater community tank after quite a few years away. I have done a tone of research and I think I have selected a pretty decent setup, but I wanted to run it past a few folks.

I have the following on order.
90 Gallon* Glass Aquarium - 30"H x 36"L x 18"D

im looking to have sand sub with driftwood and rock and a few silk plants (more into the fish)
after looking around I think im going to go with

Fluval fx6
2 x Aqueon 06106 Pro Heaters Submersible Aquarium Heater, 100-Watt
and maybe one Hydor Koralia Evolution 750/850 Aquarium Circulation Pump 750-850 GPH
Im on the fence w/getting an uv also

Also, you guys must have seen Pondguru's youtube channel, but I am also going to be filling the fx6 up with BioHome Ultimate media.

what do you guys think? im i missing anything (apart from all the smaller items (thermometers, test kits,etc))?

Sounds good. If you want to do some live plants, you can do anubis and java ferns. Africans dont touch them, and all you have to do is throw them in a crack in a rock. Or tie them to a rock and your good.

Africans absolutely destroy plants. I'm going to refer another member here. I also see some issues with your stocking.

Yes they do, but not anubis and java ferns.

Le sigh .. Tankman where are you getting your info ?
Yes Africans will murder java fern and anubias happily . And silk plants too for that matter lol. I've managed to keep two java fern alive but severely abused in with my mbuna . They even tore through the wood one was attached to in order to further throw the plant around .

You'll adore the fx6 .. I do mine !
However that tank doesn't have a lot of floor space for mbuna . I always say 48inches minimum for length of a mbuna tank. You can however if set on that tank maybe add a 3d background with some ledges tricking them into feeling they have more floor ..
I'd respond more but battery is dying here at my pool lol

O well i heard that a lot of people keep them with those to plants with no problem. But i guess not.

mbuna?? sorry if that's a dumb question :-?

thanks for all the replies, but its not going to be African, at the most I may get a pair of dwarf rams. apart from that some schooling choices and some cory's and clown loach.

PS. the tank pic is from the manufactures web site. not what I will have setup

ok cool.. thanks for getting back. so going back to the list of things I need to get.
scrap my previous line item for the 2 heaters, what about just this?

And lastly worth it or not for the UV ?

I have no experience with that heater .. Looks great.. However ab inline heater is even better if you want to try that route . I have a hydor inline for my 225 and thats a solid heater.

UV ? Well that's up to you and the $$ available. I love my coralife turbo twist UV

AB inline? do you have a link to that? also which model of Hydor do you have? I looked at those and I didnt see one that looked big enough.
I was looking for 1" or close inputs and outputs as I believe the fx6 is 1" and I didn't want to come down and restrict flow if possible??

Lol. "An inline " .. Trust me ... Autocorrect has gotten me faaarr worse before lol.

I got mine from drfoster & smith but yeah same one,
But I'll admit the ribbed tubing on the fx6 confused me at how to secure the heater confidently so I put it on my API filstar XL . While it is 5/8 inch I'm still pretty sure it can be put on the fx6 safely without much if any flow restriction. I just didn't feel like figuring it out at 2am without another person there helping me lol .

nice, ok thanks for that .. yeah i think im going to pick up some replacement pipe for the fx before I even get it in, looking around a lot of folks had problems trying to add any additional components to either the 5 or 6.
