1. Size of tank? 125gallon

2. Water parameters
a. Ammonia? .5 but dosing with prime
b. Nitrite? Undetectable
c. Nitrate? Undectectable
d. pH, KH and GH? 7.2 alk 120 carbonate 120
e. Test kit? JNW strips & api

3. Temperature? 72°

4. FW (fresh water) or BW (brackish)? Freshwater

5. How long the aquarium has been set up? It was previously set up for about 18 months with cichlids but we rehomed them due to them outgrowing the tank. The new substrate has been up about a month. We did dose two bottles of fluval bacteria as well as using two sponge from from long established tanks and filter media that had been on there for 18 months.

6. What fish do you have? How many are in your tank? How big are they? How long have you had them?
5 fancy goldfish, small, maybe 3 inches each? no other fish just got them about a week ago.

7. Were the fish placed under quarantine period (minus the first batch from the point wherein the tank is ready to accommodate the inhabitants)? No quarantine since they all came from the same store (husband gets too excited and before I knew it they were acclimated and in there).

8. a. Any live plants? Fake plants? Anubis, El Niño fern and a few other small ones I can’t remember the name to.
b. Sand, gravel, barebottom? Sand
c. Rocks, woods, fancy decors? Any hollow decors? Some small/medium river rocks for decoration and some drift wood from other tanks.

9. a. Filtration? Large sponge filter rated for 125gallon, fluval/aquaclear filter 110, small sponge filter not hooked up to ab air pump but from existing tank.
b. Heater? No heater, room stays 72° year round with other heated tanks.

10. a. Lighting schedule? What lights are used? Two of the stock lights and aqueon 4ft light. It is on from about 9am until we go to bed
b. Any sunlight exposure? How long? None

11. a. Water change schedule? Weekly with RODI top offs
b. Volume of water changed? 25%
c. Well water, tap water, RO water? Tap (high quality tap water that we drink) and RO top offs
d. Water conditioner used? Prime
e. Frequency of gravel/sand (if any) vacuumed? Not much yet as it is newer substrate

12. Foods? I can’t remember the brand right now, we have tried a little of everything, including frozen
How often are they fed? One-two small meals

13. a. Any abnormal signs/symptoms? They are hiding under the sponge filter and not swimming around much. They are staying in one corner of the tank. They like to stay where all the bubbles are from the sponge filter. They aren’t that interested in eating all that much.
b. Appearance of poop? Stringy white poop which we assume is internal parasites so we have dosed prazipro yesterday.
c. Appearance of gills? Normal

14. a. Have you treated your fish ahead of diagnosis? Yes
b. What meds were used? Prazipro
We have been keeping fresh water for years but never goldfish so we aren’t entirely used to their mannerisms. In our research we expected them to be piggy garbage disposals and for them to not be interested in eating much seems odd to us. Could it be internal parasites causing them to not want to eat? Why would they not be wanting to swim around? Two are hiding under the sponge filter around 75% of the time, and the rest are all in that same corner as the sponge filter swimming a little higher up. Is it like a protein skimmer and they like eating the stuff collected by the bubbles? We are tying to treat them and make the water as safe as possible. Any other ideas of things we can try that we haven’t thought of?
