hey guys. a couple days ago i got a 40 gallon long and decided id try out planted aquariums. so far ive got the filter, light, fertilized substrate mixed with gravel, large piece of driftwood, and some easier plants including duckweed, guppy grass, anubius, bacopa, and Eusteralis Stellata. how should i go about properly cycling it to keep the plants alive and get it safe for fish? At the moment ive only added water conditioner and some root tabs. does this sound like a good start to a healthy happy tank? any tips are greatly appreciated. (have had tanks before but never planted and no bigger than ten gallons) Thanks!

I would first start the tank with some ammonia pellets. I would also add booster bacteria and a few small specs of fish food so that the good bacteria will get used to eat extra. Then, if your going to add shrimp/snails I would add them in first and a few at a time to get a baseline of how your tank is going to operate and to build up your good bacteria. If not, I would add small fish first building your way up to larger and larger fish.
