Hi all new here was just looking for some advise on stocking my new tank. I want the main fish to be angels as I've had these before when I was younger and found them fantastic fish to raise.
Just looking for some input on number of fish and possible tank mates I was thinking hatchet fish Corey's and a Pleco of some description tho I'm not decided and happy to take suggestions tanks cycling and will be ready to add fish in the next few days . Tank is well planted and has a nice bit of bogwood as well.
Any suggestions appreciated and look forward to becoming an active part of this community thanks for your time.

WELCOME!!!!!!! :)

With those fish that you want, it will be a nice tank. You could stock it like this.
A pair of angels
15 hatchets (of one type)
15 cories
3-5 bushynose plecos
2 gold nugget plecos
2-3 clown plecos
4+ otos
15-24 rummy nose tetras or some small schooling fish.

This is just an idea. You can obviously mix some things around.

What is your filtration?

I would only do 1, MAYBE 2 pairs. Definitely not 3 in a 55. I like the idea of one pair. Cuz if/when they breed all the fish will have the rest of the tank. While if you had multiple pairs then one on like each side, other fish will have no where to go. Also when you get angles, make them one of the last things added. They can beat up new creatures, not always. I would personally just get a really nice bonded pair from aquabid or your lfs. But your idea is also fine. Just make sure you have enough extra tanks.

Thanks for the advice may go with 4 juveniles then and hope for a successful pair I love watching the fish grow it's probably my favourite part of the process watching the tank progress to full maturity

Just one I don't know your thoughts but one of my friends suggested adding a small group of breeding guppies as this will provide a source of live feed with the fry every once in a while have you ever tried something like this?

I have never really done this before. I just buy live blackworms from my lfs every once in a while. I personally dislike guppies and i think they would ruin the tanks look (JUST MY OWN OPINION). So i would say just get some live blackworms, brineshrimp, or bloodworms from your lfs every month or so. Also it all depends on the angel. But one of the angels may decide to eat the males. Also when your angels breed, at night all the little fish will get in there and eat so, USUALLY.

Thanks for your thoughts I may just make a brine shrimp culture separate suppose to be fairly easy to do. Appreciate your suggestions on the tank contents. Tho I have never kept so many plecos in one tank before tho I usually normally only have the one tho I love Cory's so I think I'll definitely go for a big school if those. I've fancied hatchet fish for a while tho I hear people have a lot of problems with them. I hear silvers are the best to go have you had any experience with these?

Plecos are so much more active in groups. The more plecos/driftwood/plants you have the more content they will feel. Or at least with in my experience.

In my grandpas planted tank i put 6 silvers in there (i made the tank for him, all i do is come buy and do a water change on it every week). If they were hard they would be dead. My grandpa isnt the best, but he likes it and everything does well so whatever. I never had another type. But they are all probably the same. The main problem withe them is you HAVE TO HAVE A TIGHT LID. Or they will jump out fast. Even a very tiny opening, if they fit through it. You will loss some.

So IME they are pretty easy to keep. They do better in bigger schools so 15 will be perfect.

To be honest I was thinking of them or maybe bleeding hearts but comparing the two the rummies look nicer the others I was thinking about were the black widows see the tanks in my living room where everything's quite dark furniture s black and the walls are cream and gray so I'd like to keep the fish not to colourful with a small bit of flare so the rummies will be perfect
