Not a good idea... even the dresser top must be well supported and flat as a twist of shift can break the aquarium bottom glass. Also, if the dresser is tall enough it can become top heavy and have a potential to fall over... particularly if the floor is not supported well. I had to put ours as close to a support wall as possible to eliminate the stand moving as we walked by, long span floor joists can move more than you think and the taller the furniture piece, the more pronounced the movement.
Any tank warranties state that the stand must be a stand designed for the purpose of holding a tank as well... just to note.
