Long story short. I went to the LFS today to pick up a Jave fern and I stumbled across this. An adult golden marble angel! This is huge, he had it in a special tank by itself cause it kept getting picked on in the tank's he was putting it in plus, it came in with tattered up fin's from the owner I guess. So he was gonna save it for the display tank he's currently redoing. He's knows I have an angel exclusive tank so he showed it to me, said he would sell it to me. If it doesn't work out I will take it back to him. So I'm hoping my other 3 angel's will accept it. It is very reclusive and scared and want's to be by itself right now and very skittish of the other fish. So with some TLC from me I'm hoping it will recover. Here's a few pic's, the pic's don't do it justice for it's true size.

So far so good.
His tank mates are not picking on him? Is he starting to "mingle" a little?
Do you know if you have any other males in your group of 3?

He's starting to mingle some. My 2 golden's are female and the smallest koi I think is female too. Actually my one golden that laid eggs is showing the same behavior as before when she laid some. The new gold marble is showing a lot of interest in her. So I'm almost positive that the big marble is a male.

That golden angel that I think will lay the eggs is a veil fin too. So they would male some nice looking spawn. Wish I had a tank to breed them.

I'm interested in what you think you will get with the pair you mentioned Luke..I have a good supply of lightly marbled angels almost grown to adult, wondering what besides more gold to "blend" them with. These fish I have come from a true gold female and a lightly marbled gold male.

Well I'm thinking that since this male is heavily marbled with gold at he top that I would get some with the same marbling possibly lighter and some with the veil finnage. It would make for some pretty angels I think. I know this marble angel that I have is a sought after color in my Area.

Seems like the angels that are in demand in my area are the high coverage orange koi angels and the heavily marbled gold or blue angels.

Been doing reading and research about breeding them and their different genetic makeups to get difference color and coverage and fin style and what not. I would like to try my hand at it if I had more time and tanks.

On the one hand it is awesome that the girls are taking a liking to him. But once he pairs off you'll have a different situation happening I guess!

In my area I can raise any fry and get paid at the LFS, whatever I bring them, at a decent size, has value. Sounds like you might have a market for some marbles!

Yeah if I could sell them at quarter size and if they have good markings I could probably get 5 a fish or so.
