So my current tank is a ten gallon (kind of small for the amount of fish I'm about to list and I'm working on getting a bigger tank)

I have two ghost catfish (sex unknown but they mind their own business)
Three balloon mollies (Two female, One male)

plus one fry (Molly) that apparently has been living in the plastic plants for awhile now.

So this tank has been running for about a week or so and the fish have never had any problem with each other until just now. One of the female mollies has recently started chasing after the other two quite aggressively and I'm wondering if there is any cause of this or does she just feel like it?

don't have a lot of exp w/ mollies but my guess is its cuz they had the fry and the glass cat is a hider so the cat prob seemed a threat to the mollies tryin to protect its young. bigger tank should help spec w/ more hiding spots for the glass cats to have their own hiding spot.

The problem isn't with my glass catfish, the molly (who is the mother) has started chasing the other mollies. The glass catfish aren't bothered by the mollies at all.

Hopefully somebody with more knowledge on mollies comes in cause I don't think it's protecting the young cause she hasn't even been near the fry or the others even when the others are looking for it.

She seems to have stopped now so I'll update this tomorrow if she continues.

Mollies will actually EAT their own fry and really don't protect them. I would be concerned for tank size as mollies do get rather large and are active fish (even balloon mollies) and glass cats are schooling fish and should be kept in larger tanks in groups of 6+. I would start off getting rid of the cats. I also think the ratio of male to female with the mollies could be an issue. Livebearers need to be kept in at least harems (1m:3f) to keep the male from pestering the females possibly to death. He could be bothering her and she is trying to keep them away. I think you should look into platies and take the mollies back. Four platies would do well in a 10. :)
