Moving fish tank to tank ??

952 Views 6 Replies 5 Participants Last post by  Robbin48
I have an established 37 g tall and an established 75 g. My 37 is getting full (lots of diamond tetra babies) and want to move the diamonds to the 75. Do they have to be acclimated to the new tank (how would you do that?) and do you move them all at once?

Thanks for any help with this....

As long as the temp is the same and the conditions of the water are the same (and from the sound of it, it should be) you should be fine moving fish from one to the other. If the fish are in separate areas of the house I'd suggest to try get them into a small enough container for transport and then simply submerge the container into the bigger tank and let the fish swim out.

That said, be wary if you are moving fry. Fry are often a lot more sensitive to sudden changes and if you are moving them over doing an accumulation is a good step just to make sure they make the the transition well.
